The Story Behind the Scents: Why Every Faith Flame Fragrance Has a Purpose
Before there was Faith Flame, there was a couch, a candle, a very tired woman, and a lot of tears.
Faith Flame was born from an inspiration God gave me, but the story behind it is also deeply personal.
It began during a difficult season of my life.
I was going through a rough patch and, on many days, I simply did not know what to do. I didn't know where to go, what the solution was, or who could help me.
I would come home from work exhausted—not only physically tired, but emotionally heavy.
Some evenings, I would crash on my couch, light a candle I had at home, and cry.
And I mean cry.
I've always loved beautiful fragrances. Perfumes, candles, body oils, body butters—if it smells heavenly, chances are I want it somewhere around me.
But during that season, I began noticing something about scent differently.
Sometimes, while I sat there overwhelmed by everything I was carrying, the fragrance from the candle would help me settle.
I would breathe.
The heaviness hadn't suddenly disappeared. My circumstances hadn't magically changed.
But I felt calmer.
And once I had settled, I would put on a worship song.
Then I would pray.
Sometimes I had plenty to say to God. Other times, probably not much at all.
But I would turn to Him.
This continued for a while.
Candle. Stillness. Worship. Prayer.
Not as a ritual. There was nothing spiritual about the candle itself. The fragrance wasn't bringing God closer to me.
God was already there.
But in a season when my mind was often crowded by fear, uncertainty and questions, something as simple as a comforting fragrance sometimes helped me slow down enough to become aware of Him again.
And eventually, God answered my prayers.
The situation that had weighed so heavily on me was resolved.
But something from that season stayed with me.
From Luxury Candles to Something More
Afterwards, I started thinking:
Maybe I should make candles.
Initially, my vision was simply to create a beautiful, luxurious candle line.
I love fragrance, I love beautiful things, and creating a candle brand felt natural.
So I started developing the idea.
The original concept even had a completely different name: Velour & Flames.
I began working through the logistics and imagining what this luxurious candle brand could become.
Until one day, I felt the Holy Spirit challenge the direction I was taking:
What if you took this the God route?
That thought changed everything.
I began thinking about the season I had just walked through.
How many people come home carrying things nobody else knows about?
How many people are waiting for an answer?
How many are anxious about tomorrow?
How many feel exhausted from praying about the same thing?
How many need hope again?
And how many simply need a moment to become still enough to remember:
God is near.
The candle had never been my answer.
God was.
But fragrance had been part of the atmosphere in which I slowed down, breathed, worshipped, prayed and became aware of His presence again.
What if I could create something intentionally around that experience?
Not just candles that smelled good.
Candles rooted in Scripture, scent and emotional experience.
Candles created for the different places we find ourselves in our walk with God.
That was the beginning of Faith Flame.
Five Scents. Five Experiences.
As Faith Flame developed, I knew I didn't want to choose fragrances simply because they smelled beautiful.
Of course, they had to smell amazing—I am still very much a fragrance girl.
But each candle must have a purpose.
I wanted every scent to represent a moment.
A feeling.
A spiritual posture.
An experience with God.
And eventually, five distinct experiences emerged.
God's Presence — The Meeting Place
Frankincense • Myrrh • Amber
When you don't know what to say — begin here.
Peace & Calm — The Exhale
Lavender • Black Chamomile • Vanilla • Amber
For the peace that follows letting go.
Thrill of Hope — Believing Again
Vanilla Oud • Amber • Soft Smoke
For the days you are believing again.
God Is Light — When the Way Forward Becomes Clearer
Sandalwood • White Musk • Soft Peony • Mother's Love
For when God begins to illuminate the way forward.
Blessed Home — Peace Beyond the Prayer Room
Saffron Cedarwood • Amber & Vanilla • White Tea
Because peace should not end at the altar.
And That Is Faith Flame
When I look at Faith Flame now, I sometimes think about the version of me sitting on that couch.
Tired.
Overwhelmed.
Lighting a candle because I loved the smell and desperately needed to breathe.
I didn't know that somewhere inside those ordinary evenings, the seed of a future idea was being planted.
I certainly didn't know there would eventually be five fragrances representing different experiences in our walk with God.
I was simply trying to make it through what was in front of me.
But God has an interesting way of using the things we walk through.
Today, Faith Flame exists for someone else who may be having one of those days.
The person who needs peace.
The person waiting for an answer.
The person seeking direction.
The person longing to feel close to God again.
The person who wants the atmosphere of their home to reflect the peace they have found in Him.
The fragrance itself isn't the answer.
It is the reminder.
A reminder to breathe.
A reminder to become still.
A reminder to pray.
A reminder to hope again.
A reminder that even when circumstances make Him feel far away—
God is near.
That is why every Faith Flame fragrance has a purpose.
And that is why Faith Flame will always be more than a candle to me.
It is a walk with God through scent.
